This scene was written to exemplify an understanding of action scenes. The action is not only visually interesting, it also shows Charles's commitment to his wife, and his slow descend into madness as he becomes more and more violent. Most sentences are short and a lot of dialogue is cut off to increase the pace of the scene, which makes it well suited for an action movie or a video game cutscene.

Blue Star Icarus

When the wife of private secret agent and mercenary Charles Goodwin gets kidnapped, he goes to any length necessary to save her. Finally, he thinks he has uncovered the organisation behind the kidnapping.

Author’s Note

An excerpt from the feedback:

It was the most fun I’ve ever had reading a writing test. This person can WRITE.

The Giant

I did this story as part of a writing test in 2021. It was very well received by the writers at the studio. I had a lot of fun experimenting with twine, and I am still quite pleased with the result.

One ending was like an emotional gut punch.

But don’t just take their word for it. Try it for yourself!

Stuff of nightmares. Well done!

Some fun tidbits!

Of course I cannot show internal material, so here is a highlight of player-facing text that I wrote.

For a new play format (the No Floor Challenge) I did the narrative and text introducing the game mode. Short, sweet, in-universe and with a dash of Yutani’s personality!

Skye is a beloved character in the community, so when one of our artists drew this amazing piece, I had a change to elaborate on it with a short story.
